Makarska is sometimes called the centre of the incorporating Adriatic area known as Makarska Riviera. Since the mid twentieth century,it is also a focus of tourism. Today, it is a town of more than 15 thousand inhabitants who are embodied by pretty towns. Makarska is among the most feted traveller destinations on the Croatian coast, flavorful for its nature, its beautiful beach, which is virtually 2 kilometers long and good climate.It is also loaded in visitor attractions and full of hospitable hosts.
Makarska is the first beach resort town along the Makarska Riviera in Croatia, south of Split. Behind the town the galvanizing Biokovo mountain range rises up to 1700 m inside only a few kilometers from the ocean. Also near Makarska, you can visit Biokovo State Park, the mountainous area behind Makarska. Though you can walk on foot into the mountains behind Makarska, if you would like to reach the best mountainous areas, you will have to drive to the official park itself.
There are fabulous hiking prospects in the park, though often the mist makes it aggravating to have a good view of the environment. At the southern end of the beach (near to the spur), there's an outdoors market area. There you can buy souvenirs, beach gear, and food. In this area are other simple but fun attractions like trampolines to leap on.
Makarska has a rich cultural and significant heritage. A special attraction is the Malacological Museum (in the Franciscan priory) with an interesting and unique collection from the Adriatic and other seas in the world.It's one of the prettiest and wealthiest malacological museums worldwide.
Sportsmen and recreation fans may use numerous play areas, facilities and hardware for each type of sports on the ground and in the ocean. The tennis camp has 9 clay courts, one color set court and two lighted indoor clay courts. This modern tennis centre, situated close to the famous beach of Makarska, is frequently the positioning of vital tennis contests. Makarska is also a health resort, with the well known recreational and medical centre Biokovka, which offers numerous healing services.
Highly pleasing are walks along the port and public beaches, and mountain lovers may go by one of the mountain trails to the tops of Biokovo, which provide a nice view on the environment, unsullied air and silence.
